You will always become angry; you will always become sad; you will always become happy, energetic, tired, envious, excited, etc.
You’re like, “duh.” Because it is human to feel these emotions…
So why are you hard on yourself when actively trying to work on yourself – your anger, frustrations, or any other negative emotion? Because you are expecting perfection. You are assuming – because you are working on gratitude, focusing on positivity and optimism, getting up earlier to meditate or move your body, and getting lots of sleep – you can’t get angry, sad, irritable, moody *insert whatever emotion resonates with you*. I get it.
If it’s not apparent, this is personal to me. I struggled with this. I felt these feelings and would get even madder at myself because I am in the healing world: why on earth do I still feel so angry? Why am I so easily irritable – every emotion listed up there is what I have written down in the past to question or process. It’s fine, I am fine. Becauseeeeee I realized something…
Those feelings aren’t what the work is preventing!!!
*GASP* “WHAT?!”
Nope. You are teaching your body, mind, and nervous system COPING SKILLS to bring your body back to homeostasis FASTER.
again, *GASP* “WHAT?!”
It’s okay. It’s what I did too…
You are always going to have these emotions; they are what make you unique. They are what make you interesting. They are what make you, you. It is the understanding, regulating, and processing of these emotions that will improve over time.
Growth shows up in the challenges
And you’re welcome. New positive outlook, new forgiveness, new grace granted.
